FIT STOP

If you’re on the road a lot for work, love to travel or just have an event out of town, odds are you’re going to have to stop at some point to refuel your car, and your belly. I have a client who commutes between Philadelphia and NYC on a regular basis so I scoured a NJ Turnpike rest stop along the way for the best figure-friendly, RD-approved foods for him to purchase. I started taking photos of exact food stands and products, but that didn’t last very long; I was kicked out. Apparently only HMS is allowed to photograph inside a rest stop!? Who knew!?

Since Rory and I are headed south today for the wedding of my beautiful childhood friend, Lindsey, I thought this is the perfect time to share my RD-approved rest stop foods with everyone since no doubt we’ll be stopping for a treat or two this afternoon.

Here’s the list:

Sadly, the majority of the prepared foods were dripping in grease, smothered in cheese and undoubtedly loaded with sodium. Stay far, far away from them!

No belt-loosening required with the items on this list!

Happy travels and don’t forget to tweet me your favorite #FITstop snacks!
